Christopher Meyer Joins Monitor Group

PRESS RELEASE

March 18, 2005

Cambridge, Massachusetts Monitor Group is please to announce that Christopher Meyer, noted author and futurist, has joined the company as Chief Executive of a new initiative, Monitor Networks. Monitor Networks will be developing networks of business and science thought leaders to support a portfolio of subscription, event, talent, and advisory-based services focused on innovation.

According to Chris, “much of consulting has historically focused on optimizing various aspects of a client’s business. As globalization and technology-driven innovation have accelerated, clients increasingly want services to help them explore new business models, value chains, alliances, and technologies.” Monitor Networks will help build Monitor’s portfolio of exploration-oriented services, and will develop networks of thought leaders in business and science to support them.

Prior to joining The Monitor Group, Chris was the Director of the Center for Business Innovation at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, from 1995 until its closing in December 2002. The Center’s mission was “to anticipate and shape the future of business.” At the CBI, Chris founded the Bios Group with Santa Fe Institute scientist Stuart Kauffman to bring complexity theory-based capabilities to Ernst & Young. In addition, he authored many articles and three acclaimed business books: Blur, Future Wealth, and It’s Alive.

Before joining Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, he was a Vice President and Group Head at Mercer Management Consulting, where from 1984 to 1995 he founded and built the firm’s practice in the information industries, comprising telecommunications, hardware, software, and information services and media. He led relationships with several of the firm’s leading clients—some spanning ten years—helping corporations pioneer concepts of capability-based strategy, horizontal and process management, and the nature of business in the information economy. His group won awards for service excellence from AT&T and Texas Instruments.

Chris holds a B.A. in both Mathematics and Economics from Brandeis University and a M.B.A. (with Distinction) from The Harvard Business School. In addition, he held a University Predoctoral Fellowship in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania .
