PeopleThe people creating Monitor Networks have some things in common. They believe, Life is not a zero-sum game. In business and society, there is more to be gained by sharing information than by hoarding it. Innovation depends on inclusiveness. A group of people who all know and believe the same things has a tough time creating something new. A group with different ideas can recombine them to spawn something original. Networks enable and engender good conversations and business innovations. If it ain't broke, it will be soon. The pace of change is continuing to accelerate, not just in technology, but in social, geopolitical, and economic structures as well. Learning to live comfortably with this condition is challenging, interesting, worthwhile--and beats all the alternatives. Commitment is fun. And valuable work is its own reward. What kind of a group do you get when you select for these points of view? First, it's diverse: each of us comes at these ideas with a unique perspective. We have people who've spent time living in Latin America, the Middle East, Australia, Italy, and Wales. Our collective work and life experiences include time spent as a journalist, a senior Fortune 500 executive, an artist, a pilot, an economist, an author, a cocktail hostess, a banker, a door-to-door salesman, a Labor Department analyst ...hey, we even have a former cab driver. Because we believe in open systems, we can share our diverse ideas not only among ourselves, but with a network that's infinitely more wide-ranging than any single organization can be. And, because we're convinced we're in the business of anticipating and making change, we live a very adaptive life, looking for the next shift in the environment that suggests we should do something new ourselves. |
